This piece is a testament to Jacques Adnet’s tremendous talent. Not unlike his contemporaries Pierre Chareau and Robert Mallet-Stevens, the artist combines metal, which became increasingly popular around 1929, with the sophistication of shagreen, appreciated by Jean- Michel Frank and Andre Groult. Its application was executed by Katsu Hamanaka using ancient Japanese "Samenuri" technique, which consisted of filling in the spaces between the natural grain of fish skin with a special coating.
