This exceptional Singes (Monkeys) four-panel folding screen is decorated with judge monkeys (because of their white beards) from the Parisian Jardin des Plantes.

The present screen launched Saïn's carreer when he won the gold medal at Salon des Artistes Français with this exact folding screen. Soon, multiple public and private commissions followed and the artist worked on major projects such as the Normandie liner interiors, where he collaborated with Jules Leleu, André Ardus and Jacques Quinet, amongst others.
