Jean Royère’s "Liane" lighting sculpture is one of his most recognizable works. Its sculptural shape appears to float in space, evoking Alexander Calder’s kinetic objects. Alongside the "Ours Polaire" sofa, it forms the core of Royère's aesthetic. Striking yet delicate, the "Liane" light is a testament to the artist’s total reinterpretation of what lighting can be.

Most "Liane" sculptures were executed in steel with a black patina, however in 1962 when Mr. Jean- Claude L. walked into the Royère boutique to purchase this piece, he made a special request for it to be gilded. Thus came about the first gold version of the "Liane" Light Sculpture. A few years later, Jean Royère created a second one, which has sadly  been lost, making our piece the only gilded "Liane" piece remaining today.
